FROM THE DIRECTOR - KATANA PRIZE MONEY - It has been suggested that I have been offering extra money to drivers to participate in Agassiz on May 9 with Katana instead of going to the Vernon
Race Track for the ARCA event. The Katana Sportsman Series will be paying similar prize money this year as we have in the past 5 years. We have dropped
the year end money and increased the per race day money accordingly. We have 4 races with $2500.00 to win and 4 races with $2,000 .00 to win. Any car
that starts a race day will be guaranteed $300.00 to 25th place and $100.00 per car after that. There is also $500.00 to $1,000 per race day in
ontingency cash and prizes. As well, there is a further $40,000.00 in contingency awards that are eligible to all drivers that show up to all of the
Katana events for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. This does not mean they have to take a main event green flag at all events, just that they made a concerted
effort to be at all the races. Richmond Engines has put up a $15,000.00 engine, R and D Race Car Products, Race Car Factory and Penticton Speedway are
putting up a $15,000.00 rolling Race Car Factory Chassis, and Brutus Truck Bodies are putting a $10,000.00 credit towards the purchase of one of their
products.
There are no other incentives than the ones I have just listed. The Katana Sportsman Series will keep the same focus as when it started - keep the cost
down and try to find more ways to put money back to the drivers.
Thank you,
Johnny Aantjes,
Katana Sportsman Series
