BLOODGOOD LEADS EVERY LAP AT SKAGIT SPEEDWAY SEASON OPENER

Skagit Speedway Media, April 18, 2009

Alger, WA - The question was posed to Jason Bloodgood in victory lane: if someone had told you before the night started that in a field with former WoO stars Shane Stewart & Jason Solwold and Nascar Craftsmen Truck Rookie Tayler Malsam you would lead every lap of the Associated Asphalt 410 main, what would you say? "I would have told you you're crazy" exclaimed Bloodgood in victory lane after scoring his first career 410 win in the Big John Motorsports #38 J&J on Haggen Food & Pharmacy Night at Skagit Speedway. Bloodgood got a scare on the final restart on lap 22 when Eric Fisher in the J&R Paving #59 XXX showed him a wheel on the inside of turn two and actually edged ahead of him for a second. Bloodgood didn't panic and roared back, reclaming his lead en route to the win. Colton Heath ended up second in the Sanford Tire #5x XXX. Third went to Malsam in the Rudeen Racing #26 Maxim. Heat races were won by Fisher and Travis Rutz in the Rutz Racing #8 XXX. Fast time was Stewart in the Jet City Equipment #7k A.R.T.

Jared Peterson was the beneficiary of a little bit of racer's luck in the Budweiser 360 Series. Peterson took over the lead on lap 22 when race leader Brock Lemley's Kentch Bros. racing #40 XXX tangled with slower traffic, collecting second place runner Henry Van Dam in his Van Dam Dairy #33v as well. This handed the lead to Peterson who brought home his first career win in the Speedmart #9 Rocket. Mitch Olson was second in his Pro-Vac #98 KPC, third was Michael Harris in the Shark Racing Engines #44 XXX. Steve Parker won the B Main in his #23 Eagle. Lemley, Peterson and Harris won the heats. Danielle Huson was fast time in her Shark Racing Engines #73 Rocket.

Defending Cook Road Shell Sportsman Sprint champion Kelsey Carpenter also benefited from some racer's luck on Saturday night. Race leader Matt Van Der Sys and second place Devin Barnes were doing heavy battle in lapped traffic when disaster struck, collecting both front runners and third place Marc Schutte in one fell swoop, handing the lead to Carpenter in his Dri-Eaz #27c XXX on lap 12. Carpenter brought home the win in front of Paul Burdick in the Chevron #9 XXX and Bull Rude's #33 Eagle. Carpenter won a heat race as did Schutte in his #72 XXX.

Cory Swatzina made a last lap pass of Freddy Vela to take his first win of the 2009 season in the Outlaw Hornet division in his Carl's Towing #07. Vela scored a career best second in the Acute Automotive #20. Steve Peters brought the battlewagon #30 home third. Heat race wins went to Wade Swatzina and Peters won heats.

All 4 classes will be in action next Saturday night for Round 2 of the Foothills Toyota Tundra Racing Series at Skagit Speedway. For more information, log on to www.skagitspeedway.com .
